AWAKENING
Sunset light falls over the new volcano at Fagradalsfjall in Iceland in August 2021. Creating this image is one of the most memorable of my life. Once the eruption began earlier in the year I became fascinated with seeing it for myself. However on my first trip it was not to be as she went dormant. A couple months later I returned and was rewarded with the most epic thing I have ever laid eyes on.
CENTRE STAGE
The beautiful lights of the aurora borealis dance over Kirkjufell in Iceland
DARE TO DREAM
An absolute dream shot for me to create. Conditions at Fagradalsfjall are typically harsh and shrouded in clouds at night as the volcano sets the entire sky aglow. But with a break in the clouds this evening I knew that my dream was possible. An impossible image to capture in a single shot, this image was created by taking two separate images for the lava and the sky with different camera settings. One with my drone high in the sky and another with my DSLR, both pointing towards the northern sky. The result is a combination of these images in photoshop.
UNDERWORLD
A look into the vibrant world beneath a small geothermal pool in Iceland
BLUE RIBBONS

MEDUSA

DEPTHS OF HELL
Molten lava spills over the new Iceland volcano at Fagradalsfjall in every direction creating brand new earth
COMING TOGETHER
Bruarfoss is my favorite waterfall in Iceland and it's not even close. The color of the glacial water is breathtaking and rock formation and cascades are very unique. Yet on my many trips, I had never witnessed a great sunset there until September 2019 when everything came together.
BLOOD OF THE EARTH
Lava flows over the freshly formed earth as steam and storm clouds form in the distance in Iceland
REPLENISH
Haifoss and Granni waterfalls at sunset under clearing storm clouds that refilled the rivers of the Icelandic Highlands
THE HIGHLANDS FROM ABOVE
Glacial river systems flow through the mountains and eventually to the nearby ocean. This is an aerial image taken from a small plane above Landmannalaugar in the highlands of Iceland..
KRAKEN

FIREWATER
A cauldron of molten lava spills over the crater forming rivers into the valley below at Fagradalsfjall in Iceland.
BIRTH OF THE COOL
An intimate photograph of the cascading blue waters of Bruarfoss
CURTAIN CALL
On my last night of a trip to Iceland, upon arriving at Skogafoss the northern lights were slowly meandering in the sky, a little strip of green trying to stretch. Then five minutes after setting my camera up, the sky gods flipped a switch and the aurora instantly rose above the mighty waterfall like a curtain being raised and held still for the next 20 minutes. A final curtain call for the trip.
ICE CLAW
The morning sun peaks through with golden light bathing the ice chunks on the black sand beach at Jökulsárlón
IN AWE
A self portrait as I stand and witness the eruption of the Fagradalsfjall volcano in Iceland at 3 a.m. in the morning.
TWO THOUSAND YEARS
A macro photograph of a piece of ice that had broken off the Vatnajökull glacier in Iceland which formed over two thousand years ago. The actual size of this section is approximated three inches wide.
HIDDEN FALLS
A lesser known waterfall not far off the road from a main attraction. One that you will likely have all to yourself
BAT SIGNAL
As the lights danced across the sky over Jökulsárlón there was an obvious moment when certain super hero was being summoned.
ALL NIGHT LONG
We just about packed it in this night. It was about 1 a.m. and the van was loaded up with all our gear as we were making plans for sunrise. And then the real show started and lasted the rest of the night!
OL’ BLUE EYES
Icelandic horses are quite beautiful. Especially the ones with blue eyes.
FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH
Seljalandsfoss is a popular waterfall and for good reason, just look at this view at sunset
CHURCH MOUNTAIN
An Iceland Icon, Kirkjufell means Church Mountain and is very aptly named. This sunrise was most certainly a religious experience.
COTTON CANDY
Mighty Skogafoss, the gem of the southern Iceland coast at sunrise
SQUIGGLE
Driving along in the highlands of Iceland, this shoreline made me stop dead in my tracks and turn around to photograph with the soft fading light.
DIAMOND BEACH
After breaking off the Vatnajökull glacier, these large ice chunks will float around in a lagoon for a couple weeks before making their way out to the ocean and getting washed up on the black sand beach. All polished and clear, sometimes they are able to witness a beautiful sunset as well.
FLAME THROWER (HORIZONTAL)
Backlit by a sliver of a moon with the northern lights above, it was a good night at Hvítserkur
MAGIC POTION
