ZION GOLD

Morning light hits the towering canyon walls in the Narrows of Zion National Park, Utah. Still to this day, this is my favorite hike.

MONTANA MORNING

A field of purple asters with beautiful morning light on Logan Pass in Glacier National Park, Montana

THE HIGHLANDS FROM ABOVE

Glacial river systems flow through the mountains and eventually to the nearby ocean. This is an aerial image taken from a small plane above Landmannalaugar in the highlands of Iceland..

MAHALO

After spending a week in Hawaii on a baby moon with my wife I was treated to this scene just before heading to the airport. Sometimes a “thank you” just isn’t enough, but the Hawaiian word for it is so beautiful and at the moment I was able to witness and captured this I was in a very grateful place in life.

RISE

As I drove into Yosemite on this afternoon after a major snow storm, the park was shrouded in fog. Getting to the bend in the Merced River with a perfect view of El Capitan was easy as not many other people had bothered to come into the park under these conditions. But I knew there were clouds breaking to the west and if that continued something special could happen. Setting up my camera on the river’s edge, the towering granite peak was completely obscured by the mist. And then slowly, oh so slowly it began to clear. Now if only the sun could break through I hoped. And then it happened! First a sliver of light midway up slicing the face. And then a little more and a little more. A couple people had set up near me now as I was literally cheering on the light out loud. “C’mon, c’mon, you can do it……..YES!!!! Yeeeeeehaw” just as the light set the majestic rock face aglow as El Cap rose from the mist below.

SILENT NIGHT

The Chapel in Yosemite Valley quietly stands in the evening light after a snowstorm blankets the park.

DIAMOND BEACH

After breaking off the Vatnajökull glacier, these large ice chunks will float around in a lagoon for a couple weeks before making their way out to the ocean and getting washed up on the black sand beach. All polished and clear, sometimes they are able to witness a beautiful sunset as well.

SUMMER DREAMS

The after glow of the midnight sunset in Iceland at Bruarfoss

COMING TOGETHER

Bruarfoss is my favorite waterfall in Iceland and it's not even close. The color of the glacial water is breathtaking and rock formation and cascades are very unique. Yet on my many trips, I had never witnessed a great sunset there until September 2019 when everything came together.
